The Fellowship Foundation for Child and Youth Development (FCYD) asking for donation to renovate old-damaged childcare center in Nong Khai…. Renovation of Childcare Center Project No. 2 (2nd Quarter/B.E.2558) is for ‘Wat Thung Swang Thammmaram Childcare Center’ or a short name of Baan Don Muang Center, Thabor district, Nong Khai province. The childcare center (CCC) located in a compound of the temple was established in 1997 and under administration of Buddhism Department. At present, the CCC is under the local administration of Sub-district Khok Khorn. A new semester to come in May, there would have 39 students, 1 KG teacher and 3 caregivers. The FCYD Foundation paid visit to the CCC and discussion with the teacher and members of Sub-district authority. Problem identification is included; Damaged roof of corrugated iron sheet caused over-heating and prevent the young children from sleeping in afternoon No available space for eating The walkway into the CCC will be unusable in the raining season due to mud. Insanitary toilet and insufficient quantity for students and teachers The FCYD Foundation has considered and accepted renovation of this CCC as the 2nd project. Renovation works includes; Installation of new ceiling and repairing damaged roof New extension area for eating place with roof and kitchen-preparation space, desks and chairs Construction of concrete walkway and small gate Re-improvement of existing toilet and new construction of 2 toilet rooms for children The renovation work will be within mutual collaboration between the FCYD Foundation and Khok Khorn Sub-district Administrative Organization or Or-Bor-Tor which is supervisory office of the CCC. The renovation work within mutual collaboration would request to have active engagement from community members and parents. The engagement is not only to strengthen up social cohesion but also cost saving for construction labour expenses.
